Creating a Personalised Jewellery Set for Summer

June 4, 2025 Finance gifts

If you like to coordinate your summer outfits, why not match your accessories too with a personalised jewellery set?

A set is made up of several matching pieces that are united by a common material, design, or stone, and whilst you can buy your own set from most jewellery retailers it is so much more fun to create your own!

All you need to get started is to think about your favourite jewellery styles and designs and then check out our step-by-step guide below.

1. Choose The Right Materials

When crafting your own set it is important to choose pieces that are made from the same materials, or to at least include the same materials in all the designs.

This can be silver or gold for the setting, or a special gemstone that holds significance for you. Maybe your own birthstone, or the birthstone of a loved one? You could even go for pearl, ruby or peridot (the June, July and August birthstones) if you can’t decide, as these are all perfect choices for summer jewellery and will add a shimmering splash of colour to your set.

Having a single material that ties all of these pieces together will keep your set consistent and will let you mix and match the different pieces whenever you like whilst still maintaining an effortless cohesion. It’s also a good idea to choose materials that you like rather than experimenting with any new ones, as we are looking to craft a set that can be worn every day, so start by picking a go-to material that looks good, suits your preferences, and works with your summer wardrobe.

2. Pick a Style

Your jewellery set could involve any styles, materials, and designs that you like, but one key rule to bear in mind is that these pieces should match without clashing. Since you will be wearing multiples of the same design it is important to identify styles that you like so that you are not tempted to stop wearing the set and go back to constantly buying new pieces that may not suit your tastes or showcase your style.

So, for a balanced look and a signature set, go for simplicity and elegance. Look for designs that bring out the best of the materials that you have already chosen, and will work well with your summer wardrobe.

Will you go for lots of different colours or a more harmonious combination? Will you choose one focal gemstone and build the rest of the set around it, or favour lots of neutral, natural colours? Maybe you’ll incorporate lots of bold, geometric shapes, or go for a more balanced, classic design?

From here, it’s time to find the hidden treasures that will fill your jewellery box this summer!

3. Select The Pieces

There is no set number of items that you should choose, so you can go ahead and pick as few or as many pieces as you like to include in your jewellery set.

Don’t worry about perfecting your set or second guessing every choice – you should focus instead upon investing in a few high-quality pieces that speak to you and work well together. So, select one of each of the following and you will have your very own curated collection to pick and choose from every morning.

  • Necklaces
  • Earrings
  • Rings
  • Necklaces
  • Bracelets
  • Optional extras, such as a brooch or a hairpin

If you’re struggling to get started, then focus on picking a bold focal piece that captures your heart and then build the rest of the set around this. You can choose a smaller, more neutral design to complement this first piece, and then another, and another, and you have the makings of your very own set!

Commissioning a Custom Jewellery Set

If nothing is taking your fancy yet, or you can’t find the exact pieces you’re looking for, why not consider commissioning a set?

Most jewellers often offer a commission service and having your set custom-made is a great way to bring your vision to life and maintain creative control over the finished designs. You will be able to pick the materials, settings and styles that most suit your tastes and collaborate with the design team throughout the process to craft a personalised set that is completely unique and can be worn every day.

Start thinking about the designs you want to create this summer, or if you prefer, why not pick your favourite piece of jewellery from your collection to feature as the centrepiece of a brand new set? The choice, along with every other choice made when commissioning a set, is entirely yours.
